Meet the Parents
Ivy and Inx enjoy life on our 5 acres which they share with 2 horses another standard poodle (Isaiah) and a toy poodle mix (Izzy). Things are pretty busy around here, so they get to meet lots of people and enjoy varied experiences throughout their days and weeks.
Ivy (age 3) especially loves meeting new people - she hasn't met a stranger yet! Her kind, gentle, and calm nature is actually quite special to experience. Her breeder (Family Affairs) actually bred her line for that very temperament. Even recently with her new pups, as folks come and go to visit, pet, and hold pups, Ivy just lounges in the room and watches. She's as calm as a cucumber, though she certainly hopes a few of those pets and kisses will come her way. Ivy is also quite independent in spirit. While she enjoys lounging on the couch with her family, she equally enjoys spending time to herself. She can stay out in the house all day by herself without getting into any trouble! In the evenings Ivy enjoys watching television (another thing peculiar to her) as well as play with stuffed toys and hope to steal a treat from her friend Izzy, the toy poodle mix.
Inx (age 2) is a fun contrast to Ivy! He is a sporty and playful boy. He absolutely loves playing fetch and running with his other dog friends. On hot summer days, he is the first in the pool! In spite of his active and playful personality, he is also eager to find a spot beside someone on the couch to curl up and nap. Whereas Ivy is quite independent, Inx likes staying close-by. He's the loyal and dedicated boy who moves room to room to follow his humans. Inx is a bit timid around new people when he first sees them. He's the kind of dog who keeps an eye on things before jumping in to meet and greet. Poodles in general can be exuberant and excite-able, so a little shyness has actually proven to be a great quality. Especially with young children, Inx's "let's meet slowly" approach has been wonderful for all. Once he warms up to people, he is the most faithful companion of them all!
Photos below show Ivy and Inx from pup to present day. Take special note of the wide variety of hairstyles these two have sported. A poodle doesn't have to be meticulously trimmed and fluffed out. You'll see each look beautiful with the stereotypical poodle puffs, but they are also the most adorable dogs with just basic "easy" cuts. The speed that poodle hair grows is sort of similar to human hair which makes it safe to experiment with new cuts (it will always grow back) and fun to watch them turn from clean-cut dogs to shaggy fluffs before their next grooming.
